The Uprising Statement of Faith & Communion
We are Apostolic
The Uprising is an Incarnational and Sacramental Anglican Rite ministry which sustains full and unbroken Apostolic Succession, beginning with St. Peter. We believe that the gatherings of God's people and celebration of the Holy Eucharist are rooted in the ancient liturgies and the 1928 Anglican Book of Common Prayer.
We are Sacramental
The Uprising is Sacramental, such that we believe in the two Greater Sacraments ordained of Christ our Lord in the Gospel, and the five Minor Sacraments which are commonly called Sacraments by tradition, but are not counted for Sacraments of the Gospel.
The two Greater Sacraments ordained of Christ our Lord in the Gospel are:
Baptism
&
Eucharist
(Also called: Communion, The Mass, or The Lord's Supper)
The five Minor Sacraments within Church tradition are:
Confession and Absolution
Holy Matrimony
Confirmation
Ordination (Holy Orders)
Anointing of the Sick (a.k.a. Healing or Unction)
We are Creedal
The Uprising is a creedal community of faith and therefore uses three creeds that have been historically established through numerous ecumenical councils of the ancient and early Church. Those three creeds are (click to open):
